As I understand it, Disney spend an awful lot of lobbying money keeping Mickey
Mouse in copyright, so I suspect unless a large cheque is included in the
letter, this appeal will fall on deaf ears.
Compared to the lifespan of patents, the lifespan of copyright is huge. Life of
the author plus 70 years IIRC.

If you're in the US, perhaps writing your representative and senators
about the ill effects of current copyright law would be a good idea?
