I'm not sure about the USA, but in Australia digital media is treated
differently to print media. They are under different Acts, so what is allowable
for print is not necesarily so for digital copies. So my understanding is that
it is not the definition or intent of "sharing" that is at issue, but the media
by which copies are distributed.
