Sadly the post about awful prize money for rifled arms competitions is all
to true. Who's fault is it? Look to the NRA....again! Over the years they
have through stupidity, snobbery and sloth done so much damage to our
shooting sports. can you really imagine that in 1987 if NRA "Service Rifle"
had been shot with the SLR since its adoption by the British Army that
Hurd's ban would ever have been an option? And, in my opinion, once we had
the 1987 ban then that "pointed the way" to the 1996 ban.

I've never exactly understood why the NRA took the position they did
on the SLR.  I was never impressed with the accuracy of the L1A1 so I
assume that had something to do with it.  Was it the cost of the rifle,
availability or something like that?  Or was the NRA just trying to be
PC even back then in the 50s?
