Steve, & SSAA,
A rather excellent story.
A prime example of history repeating itself.
Humans, once again at the prescient stage of their
development, but willingly forgoing the sagacity needed to survive,
and seeking to become like gods, ignore every aspect of their history,
and in the process doom themselves to fail in the end.
Does the phrase 'give them enough rope, and they will
hang themselves' come to mind?
All one need do is read of the fall of Constantinople, and
the idiocy which passed for 'civilization'.
Only this time, the Huns will have a veritable feast: the
conquered will starve themselves to death in the name of the
humane treatment of animals (no hunting, fishing, etc.).
Must be nice: your enemy willingly decimates himself.
I wonder: do you suppose that reality has a chance of
overcoming idiocy? And, would hypocrisy be seen as the norm
(in light of somebody actually killing an animal to survive)?
