I'm sure this can be corroborated from other sources,
but it is my understanding that Mick Gault (and his
compatriot, who name is not to hand), were the only
medal winners from the last games not to receive a
personal letter from the Prime Minister.

Politicians of any colour are canny enough not to try
and gain anything from a home medal win in the shooting
disciplines. At the same time, it would do us no good
at all to rub their noses in it other than by the most dignified
manner.

Still, first win your medal.
