The idea of T-Shirts with messages reminds me of the, true it is said, story
of the famous shoot where the beaters were given smocks with letters on to
wear so that the beating line could be kept "gapless". The story goes that
the beaters took great glee in re-arranging themselves so that the letters
spelt out obscene words. It would only take eleven marchers to each have a
T-Shirt printed with a certain letter to spell, when they marched in line
abreast, F-*-*-K-O-F-F-T-O-N-Y or something similarly rude! Who would then
need a placard!
