I presume that you mean, "injured with his/her own weapon".

I do not know of any relevant study in the UK, but a recent US study might
be of interest.

For a long time it has been a commonplace arguement in the US, often
presented as a well-known fact, that a woman armed with a gun is likely to
be disarmed by her attacker and then injured or killed with her own gun. It
therefore follows that she would be better off without a gun in the first
place; and the authorities are doing her a favour if they prevent her from
having one.

About 3 years ago a researcher decided to explore this by examining cases
where a woman with a gun had been disarmed by her atttacker. There were
many cases of this, but the researcher was unable to find a single case
where the woman had subsequently been shot with her own gun. Of course that
does not mean it never happens, but it is very, very rare.

By way of contrast, Professor Gary Kleck's meticulous research into defence
strategies for women demonstrates that, having a gun for self-defence is
actually about 4 times more effective against attack than any other strategy
eg. avoidance, talking, running, screaming, biting/scratching etc.

The FBI stats show quite clearly that the disarming and then shooting of
a police officer is actually quite rare, and it can be reduced to virtually
nil with weapon retention training and a decent holster.
