The notion that the inside of a car is a "public place" really needs testing
in the High Court.

Interestingly the High Court recently decided that the inside of a public
telephone kiosk was NOT a public place. The decision was against
charges of "littering a public place", brought against a man in the employ
of prostitutes, caught placing business cards in a BT phone box. Does
this mean that a carelessly discarded crisp packet within the confines of
your car could see you charged with littering ? <G>

Similarly perverse is the finding of some courts that a lock knife is a
fixed
bladed knife, if I recall correctly the judge in the case declared "for the
purposes of the act a lock knife shall be considered fixed blade".

It would follow that caravans should be considered "dwellings" because
they have retractable legs that allow them to be fixed in place.

Caravans are dwellings when permanently set in place, but not while
being towed. That much I can recall accurately.

Steve.
