Cypriots march every year agains the partition of the island by the Turks.
They havn't acheived much but the world is reminded what the situation is on
a regular basis. We can make a difference with regular marches because what
we wish to achive is a moderate task by comparison.
Tha biggest challenge is that majority of people who used to shoot pistols
didn't bother with the first marches and judging the inexorable stupidity of
some of the people wandering round the Phoenix Trade show, like
Q "So is that rack of M16s legal then..."
A "Of course not sir, don't you know who I am?!! I wouldn't dare transact
lawful business in a public place scrutinised by the Police and in front of
hundreds of witnesses. Now be a good chap and go and play in the sandpit at
the end of the gallery range."
Another common one was
Q "So when do you think they'll ban those then..."
A "Well, I've been building them for about ten years, so I guess it'll be
when apologists like you allow them to."
I despair at the pathetic individuals involved in shooting now and they
don't give a rats arse about this sport to stick up for it or themselves.
I'm proud to be a shooter and I'll be there at the front of any march going
but we need alot of other supporters to walk with us, not just shooters and
maybe its about time to roll in the self defence argument as well. See how
many people would turn up for that one!
