How far up 58 does the gravel begin?
With the gravel on the roads what are the proposed routes to get out of town now for a W or SW direction? One could take Lake Wilson out then go north & west for that part of the county, or take Forest Hills Rd to Down St. ext. Either way, until the gravel dissipates getting out of town will add a couple of miles to any ride in the effort to avoid the loose gravel. Any other options I haven't thought of?
