The morning started out great with water temps at 73 and crystal clear. Once I was able to get clear of all the other swimmers I was able to make pretty good time. Short run to transition area and I was off on the bike. Roads seemed a little bumpy to me but I guess I am getting use to the smooth new pavement around here. Overall ride was nice and my computer said I avg just under 22mph. By the time I got off the bike the sun was out in full force…just what I wanted for the run that had no shade whatsoever. That was by far the longest/hottest/most miserable run I have ever done. Thank the good lord there were aid stations about every mile with ice cold towels and drinks….believe me I would not have made it without them. My goal going into the race was 5:30:00, but when I started the run my goal turned to just making it from one station to the next.
