You're missing a basic point: people do not want to remove their batteries/fuel cells and thus probably shut down their machines. If fuel cells require removal before boarding (an "if" which may not be realistic, from what a few people have said here), and batteries do not, then fuel cells will be deprecated by business travelers.

This is the debate, not an issue of airlines supplying power.
