Ahhh, shit -- I forgot. Tim's exactly right, that's the exact mindset of the
fundy christers, it doesn't matter one whit to Dubbya about the economy, or
world opinion, or anything else. None of that matters because he's doing his
"lord's work" and all the rest will be moot. That's their same rationale for
trashing the environment, using up scarce resources, and everything else.
So I guess we can just kiss the economy goodby. OTOH, I'm getting more and
more convinced that Babylon will kick COW's ass, unless they just kill a couple
of million civilians.
This doesn't really compare with Afgahnistan at all. The Afgahns were
seriously divided, and most didn't give a rats ass about fighting for the
Taliban. So the majority didn't resist the US invasion, they're content to wait
until the US leaves, or else pisses everybody off enough that they declare a
general jihad against the US. Babylon, on the other hand, has a very large
majority population which is very united, and, more importantly, is very, very
pissed at the US and UK for all those years of sanctions and are obviously
willing to die for their country. And now there's also a lot of volunteers
coming in from other countries to help. Should be interesting.
But I think we'll be seriously fucked for years to come regardless.
