Sure, she just needs to keep her mouth shut when all is ok, and burst stuff into Python's stdout when things go wrong. That will make the doctests fail for free. That way it's trivial to test for output in the doctests as well, e.g. you could enforce a leak on purpose and expect the nanny's cry as output.
