Dear Michelle,

Unfortunately, I have no details on the Berler family members you researched,
BUT the Berler surname is closely linked to Nepolokoutz (rum. Nepolocauti), 27
km west of Czernowitz. For example, if you search the online newspaper archives
by entering these terms, you'll get numerous hits:

ANNO:
https://anno.onb.ac.at/anno-suche#searchMode=complex&dateMode=period&from=1
DiFMOE: https://www.difmoe.eu

Willy Berler, who escaped the "Transport XX" from Mechelen to Auschwitz - see
my previous mail
[https://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg00880.html] -
was also from Nepolokoutz (rum. Nepolocauti):

Good luck with your research!

Subject: [czernowitz-l] Looking for Berler family

Hi, I have been searching for years for my Berler relatives from Czernowitz,
but so far haven't been able to find any record of them before they came to the
US.

They are Solomon Berler b 1854, likely son of Jacob. Solomon married Jennie
(Sheindel) Schaefer. They had multiple children with their 3 youngest born in
Czernowitz - Nathan (1880), Samuel (1885), and Yetta (1886).

I am looking for some advice on next steps after making no progress on this in
years.

Thanks!

Michelle Lipman
