Czernowitzers... Rose Ausländer died in Düsseldorf 35 years ago today. I discover this quite by chance as I am currently reading a book by the great poet from Czernowitz. I find short prose work in the blurb:
["Crocodile Tears I salt my soup with crocodile tears. The crocodile, a birthday present, lies in the kitchen and cries because I don't cook what it likes to eat: people. I feed it literature. It devours everything I read to it, except for poetry. It finds poetry indigestible."] More about Rose Ausländer in the Jewish Women's Archive: https://jwa.org/encyclopedia/article/auslander-rose Happy New Year!
