How are you entering them? I have a US keyboard, so I used the Character Map program to create a string of high-ASCII characters, copied them, and pasted them into the Prop Sheet. They displayed normally. I can enter them directly on the Mac, and again no problems. So my guess is that it is an issue with the string editor of the grid.
If you run the wxPython demo app, and go to the example for the Grid class with Editors, can you enter those characters into that grid?
