I believe the problem lies ultimately with the design of
ez-setup/setup-tools, but my more immediate, dabo-centric question is
is there a non-setup-tools way to install? I generally find distutils
to be workable, but it seems that dabo cannot install by any means
other than setup-tools, which, in this case, doesn't work.
