doh, I followed up my last post on the wrong thread, DOH.

firebird looks promising.  Probably easiest/free multiuser database to
deploy, but the list of "known issues" look a little scary.  Probably
not very threatening for most deployments.

Is firebird true client/server?  I seem to remember that it wasn't,
which may or may not be a good thing.
