Thank you for asking! I have not done as much in Dabo as I would have
liked. Only because I can put together a complete polished app in
FoxPro in about two days and deliver it to the customer. I have been
working with Foxpro for 20 years now. I like Dabo and Python better and
once I figure out how to do all of the stuff I do, I will move to it 100%.
So far I have written four applications using Dabo this year.
One logs into an email account and parses emails for specific
information about orders. The output is a CSV file that is
imported into another application.
One goes through Outlook mailboxes and saves each email to a text
file and saves the attachments to a folder. The customer had
Exchange for over 10 years and no backup of the files.
One takes addresses for delivery for a courier service. The Dabo
form allows for easy import of the addresses. Then it
contacts a web service to geo code the addresses. Once the addresses
are geocoded, I calculate the farthest location from the starting
point. Then I compare all of the points and rank the deliveries from
farthest to nearest. I also output a file which is used to display
the deliveries on Google Maps.
The fourth allows for entry of proposals and the invoices in one
table. The output is PDF so the contractor can email the
proposals or invoices to their customer.
Like I said, I need to learn to do the stuff I do with Dabo so I can
move to it 100%. All of the projects above do things that Python can do
but Foxpro can't do without third party libraries.
Now to the thanks!
Thank you Ed and Paul for your hard work and dedication to Dabo. Thank
you to the contributors and those that answer question when we have them.
