I'm using openSUSE 12.1 wxpython 2.8.12, python 2.7.x, latest Dabo.

 From top:

31996 johnf 20 0 886m 117m 29m S 3 1.5 0:25.70 python
  1550 root 20 0 505m 385m 8996 S 1 4.8 8:53.18 Xorg

As you can see python is using only 3 percent.

Please provide the platform, wxpython, python, and Dabo versions.

I can use ClassDesigner without issue on window7 and linux. I also use
the SVN versions of Dabo and nothing else.
