I'm just now learning about those other two approaches. Fair enough workarounds.
Also, I've wiped out the old install and reinstalled from latest svn. CPU usage seems to be more like 30%, not the insanely thrashy 100% of before. Dabo is feeling much more usable now. Thanks thus far for bearing with me, and for developing Dabo. I'm really grateful to have a multiplatform Python-based alternative to VFP. I hope to be able to contribute some material support once I get a job.
