Stocks edge up
Stocks edged higher Tuesday as investors turned hesitant following the previous day's 
rally. Two reports indicating that the economic recovery is gaining momentum had 
little effect on trading.

Revised numbers from the government show the economy grew at an

Spitzer charges 3 with funds fraud
Criminal charges were filed Tuesday against three former top executives at Security

Sales of pre-owned homes drop
"It does appear we might have seen the peak for housing activity," said the National 
Association of Realtors chief economist. He said sales were on track to set an annual

Heinz earnings fall after spin-off
Ketchup maker H.J. Heinz Co. on Tuesday said quarterly earnings fell nearly 10

Independence to buy N.Y. bank
