A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
In today's Gospel we hear how people were bringing children to Jesus
so that He could touch them. There was no mention that the children
were sick or in need of some miraculous intervention, just that they
were brought to Him to be touched. How interesting that some saw the
importance of Jesus' tender touch.
Further in the Gospel we hear Jesus' indignation with His disciples
for interfering and preventing the children free access to Him. If
Jesus was indignant with His disciples for THAT, what must we expect
for the barriers we have caused in making Him known and seen and
touched?
I, for one, know that my lack of example as a persevering, faithful
and practicing Catholic parent should very well merit me hell. Yet,
with God's grace I know that even this sinfulness has been erased by
the blood of His Christ.
Let each of us then run to Jesus and let nothing stand in our way --
no doctrines, no traditions, no past experiences or misfortunes. Let
the love of Jesus that was placed in our pure and innocent souls seek
Him; and in seeking, find Him.
Here I am Jesus, I am your child.
Touch me, heal me, forgive me,
save me, love me.
Amen.
