A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
The first week of Lent is nearly gone! Where does the time go? It
seems the older we get the quicker time flies. Last week God told us
to rend our hearts, not our garments. He is looking for change from
within us. Jesus wants us to be close to Himself; so close, that we
will become as one.
The way to the heart of Jesus is first fixing those areas of our own
lives that separate us from the love of Christ. We must first confess
before the Lord, the areas of our lives that are weak, where we have
failed to love. Then, we must humbly submit to the power of the Holy
Spirit to help us to become stronger and more loving.
This is where the words of Jesus that we hear today hit home. Jesus
urges us to ask -- and we WILL receive! He doesn't say maybe we will
receive, but WILL receive! Can we trust these words of our Savior?
Can we depend on the power that lies within us, the power of God
Himself: the Holy Spirit? If we can answer yes to the above, we are
well on the way to acquiring the heart of Jesus instead of our own
stony, cold hearts.
O, Holy Lord our God,
allow us to be kind to others,
allow us to know the guidance of your Holy Spirit,
allow us to be example of your love
during this holy season. Amen
