A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

Today begins the Easter Triduum when all that we believe in, finally
comes to pass. We remember the Last Supper when Jesus the Christ
knelt down and, one by one, washed the feet of his apostles. We
remember His words as He gave that most precious gift we'll ever
receive, His very Body and Blood: "This is my body which is for you.
Do this in remembrance of me." (1 Corinthians 11:24)

It is on Holy Thursday that the institution of the priesthood is
celebrated; and we think of all the men through the years who have
answered God's call to consecrate their lives to serve Him and His
people. May God continually bless them and give them the grace they
need to do this work.

At this time, we also remember our Jewish brethren as they celebrate
the feast of Passover. We are very closely connected to them at this
holy season, for this is the same meal our Lord Jesus sat down to at
the Last Supper on that Holy Thursday night.

Scripture gives us much to ponder:

Psalm 116: What return shall I make to the Lord for all that He has
done for me?

Exodus 12: The blood of the Lamb (our savior Jesus) is still our
protection; it is the gift of redemption, the gift of forgiveness by
our God and the promise of eternal life!

1 Corinthians 11: How often do we eat this bread and drink this cup
and proclaim the death of the Lord? Is it often enough?

John 13: When was the last time we washed another's feet? That could
take many forms. The key word here is 'servant'; how have we served
one another? It can never be compared to how Jesus serves us!

We pray today for all people, Jew and Gentile, that one day we may
all be a worshipping people TOGETHER! Amen!
