A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
Today we read how Jesus humbled himself in a way that most of us
would never think imagine. Washing your guests' feet at the dinner
table would never do in our society. Jesus showed both humility and
obedience to the Father. In the same way, Paul demonstrated his
willingness to tell the people about the Messiah, Jesus -- the same
Paul who tormented the Jews and stood by as Stephen was stoned to
death. John the Baptist also humbled himself telling everyone that he
was not who they thought he was but to look for the One who was
coming after him. So humble was John, that he felt unworthy to take
Jesus' sandals off his feet.
Where are you in this fourth week of Easter? Are you still rejoicing,
with Alleluias ringing in your mind? Psalm 89 tells us we should be
singing the goodness of the Lord! Are you?
This holy season of Easter should truly be a time of rejoicing when
we think of what the Lord has done for us. We who have found Jesus,
who worship and adore Him, are blessed by Him daily. Who can you
serve in a most humble way today? Family? Friend? Stranger? Tell them
how the Lord is working in your life; tell them how much He loves you
and then, how kind and merciful is His love. It's a wonderful
blessing to reach out to others, imitating Christ and bringing His
love and humility to everyone you meet.
Jesus, you are my Lord and savior,
Help me to spread your good news,
to everyone I pray for and meet each day.
Amen!
