A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
"You must bear witness as well. . ."
Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit will bear witness to Him. The
Holy Spirit will convict souls and will point them in the direction
of the loving Father. The Holy Spirit is the important internal
witness.
But Jesus knows people well enough to know that this is insufficient
for most. They must also have the witness of others, other people who
can talk to them and convince them.
So it is today. The Holy Spirit still bears witness, but He counts on
us to bear witness as well. We need to let everyone around us know
the splendor and the glory of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit may be
convicting, but if we aren't there to help, the poor convicted soul
will have no idea what to do. We are God's hands and feet. We are
Jesus' heart to the world. We must bear witness--in our lives, in our
words, and in our bearing.
