A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
It's good to remind ourselves of the childlike Faith we are called to
have in Jesus. Today's readings speak of our Lord as the Good
Shepherd who lovingly tends His flock and who rejoices over finding
lost sheep. When we consider the Good Shepherd, it calls to mind the
image of a benevolent father, a responsible carer who protects his
flock. It also reminds us how dependent the flock is upon the
shepherd for all their needs.
In a world, where we are accustomed to taking control, believing
ourselves to be independent and knowledgeable, let us remind
ourselves today that we can only truly experience the mysteries of
life through union with Our Good Shepherd, Jesus. It is only through
Him, that our path of life and our quest for salvation will be truly
enlightened.
