A Reflection from Holy Scripture . . .
Today's first reading is a strong reminder of the providence of the
Lord and the power of His plan for His chosen people. Joshua recounts
the movement and development of the Israelites from the time of
Abraham to the Israelite's occupation of the land of Jericho. He
tells how the Lord's hand directed each major event in the history of
His people so that His plan was fulfilled. It was through little
merit on the side of the Israelites that the Lord's plan was
fulfilled but through the grace and providence of the Lord Himself.
We too, now, today, are God's chosen people. When we put our faith
and trust in God, we can rest assured that He will direct our paths.
God has a plan for each and everyone of us, but it is only by
listening and being open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, that
we can know we're on the right path. When we ask for help in Faith,
our prayers will be answered. Today, let us renew our Faith in God's
providence in our lives, accepting that God's plans for us are good
and that really trusting God with our lives will lead to our
happiness in this life and in the next. Amen.
