A Reflection from Holy Scripture . . .

We are challenged to SEE by the readings today. Christ verbalized to
others the good He sees in Nathaniel: "Behold an Israelite indeed, in
whom there is no guile." (John 1:47) Jesus recognizes the faith and
goodness in Nathaniel and also speaks of his greater rewards: "Amen,
Amen, I say to you, you shall see heaven opened, and the angels of
God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man." (John 1:51)
(Douay)

We have a choice with our fellow man. We can recognize and affirm
their human weaknesses and faults which we all have, or like Christ,
we can see the good and potential for good. It is a choice we face
over and over every day of our lives. Sometimes when we let ourselves
get emotionally involved in the faults of others, it is harder to see
the good in them. Christ asks that we be bigger than that, more
objective, and try harder to see that everyone is made in His image
and likeness. Only by letting go of our own needs to judge and
control, can His love flow through us.

Lord, please help us to see You in everyone we meet today!
