The Catholic Calendar for Friday, September 7, 2001 The Twenty-second Week in Ordinary Time Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word: Colossians 1:15-20 Psalm 100:1-5 Luke 5:33-39 Full text: http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/index.htm A Reflection from Holy Scripture . . . The scriptural readings of today speak of the 'old' and the 'new'. In Luke 5:33-39 Christ uses as an example that you do not put new wine into old wineskins. We are challenged to take on the newness which Christ purchased for us by His very blood. We are a new people, adopted sons and daughters of God Himself. Our challenge is to realize and act on that reality. People in love move, bend and lean together like trees blown gently by the wind. In time many even begin to look and talk alike. Our challenge is to lovingly let Love move, bend and mold our being ....because you do not put new wine into old wineskins. - Joan of Jesus, ocds (c)2001 The Way, The Truth, The Life.
