A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

When we listen to the Word of God and learn the lessons from
scripture, we know that the Holy Spirit of God is guiding our lives.
To discern the will of God, we must make scripture a basic part of
our life.

Today's scripture is scary if we let it take over our imagination --
if we apply it to the Godless world around us. We can go through life
frightened, refusing to participate in anything that might expose us
to dangers, such as terrorists, anthrax and epidemics of all kinds.
Instead, let us learn from today's scripture that we need to depend
upon God, to follow Jesus and pray that we might be set on fire with
the Holy Spirit.

This message of faith is a challenge. Are we going to love one
another or are we going to display anger and fear, separating the
household into divisions? God gave each of us the free will to sin or
not to sin, to follow Him or to follow the world and it's ways. We
must trust that Jesus desires to be with us, helping us to handle the
difficulties of life.

          Happy the man who makes the Lord his trust;
               who turns not to idolatry
or to those who stray after falsehood. Ps 40:5
