A Reflection from Holy Scripture . . .

The journey of prayer is never stagnant if we are open to the
promptings of the Holy Spirit. As humans we are slow and hesitant
about change, and when we find a prayer formula that works for us, we
try and hold on to that come what may. The danger in becoming fixed
on a certain prayer method, is that the method itself can become the
focus of our efforts and can overtake the real goal of prayer which
is communion with our Lord.

Forms of prayer are there to help us build a stronger relationship
with our Lord. Depending on our needs at the time, we may be drawn to
certain prayers. The important thing to remember whether reciting the
rosary or completing devotions to the 'Divine Mercy' or praying the
Divine Office is that the Holy Spirit is with us all the time,
teaching us to pray, bringing us closer to Jesus, healing us.

Today, let us renew our prayer - our conversations with God - with
the goal of growing in intimacy with Him. Let us ask for the
intercession of Our Lady and all the heavenly saints for our prayer
efforts so that when we pray, we will meet with Jesus and be
transformed in holiness.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
