A Reflection on today's Holy Scripture . . .

Mary, the mother of Jesus speaks to us today:

Sometimes I think that along our walk of life, there are a chosen few who
come our way who are too good to be believed. My Son Jesus was one of them.
He was so kind, so loving, so gentle and compassionate, that I'm sure people
commented: "Is He for real?" This, I believe is the reason He was sought out
and accused on trumped-up charges. Nobody remembered the lepers He healed,
the cure of the demoniac, the healing of Simon's mother-in-law, the
paralyzed man and so many others. Did they consider how he fed the
multitudes with a few fish and a couple of loaves of bread? Did anyone
remember what He said about loving your enemies and making judgments about
others?

Instead, they bound Him, beat Him unmercifully, put a crown of thorns on His
head and made Him carry a cross up a long hill to Calvary, where they nailed
Him down on the wood and raised the cross upright until He suffocated. They
even tormented Him with sour wine when He asked for a drink. Before my
darling son died there, He told young John that I was to be John's mother,
and that John was to be my son. Yes, very painful heart-wrenching
memories....

Now in these days of the new millennium, as we remember Jesus' death and
resurrection, let us remember what He has done for us, remembering how He
set an example to us as to how we should live and love, and to ponder in our
hearts the wonderful day of His future coming when we'll see Him face to
face. Let us live out our lives, recognizing that God is among us, offering
us His healing, His loving, His forgiveness and gracing us with whatever we
need to get through each moment of our lives.
