Title: Meditation: Friday, April 26, 2002

The Catholic Calendar for Friday, April 26, 2002
    Fourth Week of Easter

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
    Acts 13:26-33
    Psalm 2:6-11
    John 14:1-6

A Reflection on today's Holy Scripture . . .

Sometimes we have a tendency to forget what we are all really about.
Oh, if we could take seriously the words from today's Gospel. How are
lives could be simplified! "Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in
God, believe also in me"
(John 14:1). Jesus goes on to say that He's
going ahead to prepare a place for us; and then He will come back for us
and we'll be with Him for eternity.

We humans keep looking for something more complicated in our
relationship with God. He's speaking to us today as His beloved children
in the simplest of ways and tells us we know the way! We didn't receive
a road map from Jesus so that we could follow the route numbers on our
way; but He has given us His very own example of how to live and love.

The Psalm tells us that we're God's sons and daughters. Let us deeply
believe that He is the way, the truth and the life, our heavenly home,
that special place prepared by the loving hands of God.

         Dear Lord,
allow me to reconsecrate my life to you
              to renew my baptismal vows,
that gift which gave me the grace to follow you always.

    Amen.
