Title: Meditation: Saturday, April 27, 2002

The Catholic Calendar for Saturday, April 27, 2002
    Fourth Week of Easter

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
    Acts 13:44-52
    Psalm 98:1-4
    John 14:7-14

A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

Most people, as they approach death, express their affections for their
loved ones and speak of their inheritance. Christ was no different in this
regard, but so very different in what He offered during His discourse after
His last supper with the apostles. Much of the subject was about our Father
in heaven. He assured us that "If you had known me, you would also have
known my Father....and you have seen Him."
(John 14:7) Christ wanted to be
very sure that we understood the love of the Father for us before He was
crucified. Christ went on to promise us: "whatever you ask in My name, that
I will do, in order that the Father may be glorified in the Son."
(John 14:13)

What a gift Christ has given us to help us realize that love-connection with
the Father! There is no other way that we could have known so clearly that
it is, in fact, very real! It is a thought to always keep in front of us as
we move through our day-to-day routines and missions. Not only do we see the
world through the cross and resurrection, but we face each moment knowing we
are very much loved by our Father in heaven!
