Title: Meditation: Wednesday, May 8, 2002

The Catholic Calendar for Wednesday, May 8, 2002
    Sixth Week of Easter

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
    Acts 17:15,22--18:1
    Psalm 148:1-2,12-14
    John 16:12-15

A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

Perhaps we should all be clever as Paul was at the Areopagus. There,
he identified Jesus Christ with the "unknown god" of Greek mythology!
Is there not much truth in the fact that, more and more, our God --
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- is indeed unknown? If our society
continues to bar the Word of God in His commandments, admonitions,
and spirit of Love, then we'll need evangelizing from the roots of
society on up.

We must have confidence that the Holy Spirit continues to teach us,
to help us adapt to the times in our witness. Help me today, Lord, to
know how to be a good channel for your Holy Spirit to the confusion,
the disrespect for You and for life, and the hostility of our world.

I believe in You, I trust You, I love your Word!
