    Luke 1:39-59

A Reflection on today's Holy Scripture . . .

Blessed is she who believed that the Lord's word to her would be
fulfilled: come let us praise God! If we could only "let go" and believe
as Mary did! Today we seem to always be wrapped up either in our own or
the world's troubles. If we could only focus on the Lord as Mary did,
placing her trust in Him, life would be easier for us. Mary received the
message from the angel and responded with her "Yes". She then felt the
call to help her aging cousin who was expecting a child. As Mary
approached, Elizabeth, the power of the Spirit knew Mary was carrying
the Messiah in her womb and her own child leapt in her womb!

We, like Mary, are Christ-bearers! We carry the Spirit of Jesus within
us and this should be evident by our every word and action. The Spirit
of the living God chooses to live in us. In the times we live in, with
the forces of evil surrounding us, i.e., pro-abortion advocates,
terrorist fanatics injuring not only innocent people but also destroying
entire governments with their tyranny, etc, we turn to our God. We try
to live lives that proclaim Jesus as our Lord!

If we can convey to just one person today of the love of Christ for each
of us and share this, then we are carrying Him to wherever He is needed,
just as Mary carried Him on her visit to Elizabeth.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, pray for us!
              Amen!
