Title: Meditation: Saturday, June 1, 2002

The Catholic Calendar for Saturday, June 1, 2002
    Eighth Week in Ordinary Time
    St. Justin

Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
    Jude 17:20-25
    Psalm 63:2-6
    Mark 11:27-33

A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

My soul is thirsting for you, O God.

How often we stumble on the path of true life -- how often we are
blind to where true happiness really lies. We fill our lives with
distractions and addictions of every kind, thinking that through
these things we'll find fulfillment. We even go so far as to
compartmentalise our life into the different parts of our selves: our
spiritual, our family, our relationships, our financial and career
aspirations. But Jesus calls us to bring all these different parts
ourselves before Him so that He can teach us the straight path and
secure and lead us to the joyful fulfillment of His unique plan for
each of us.

Our spiritual values need to be at the core of everything we do. If
we find conflict in our lives with these values, we need to question
our priorities: is God at the centre of all that we do? Or do we
sometimes relegate GOD to the lower regions when it suits our
immediate needs?

Let us beseech the Lord today for the courage and grace to follow His
Holy Will, strong in the knowledge that His plan for each of us
transcends our wildest dreams and is the path to eternal joy.

Amen.
