Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word:
    Hosea 11:1-4,8-9
    Psalm 80:2-3,15-16
    Matthew 10:7-15

A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

In today's first reading we hear God say, "For I am God and not man."
(Hosea 11:8) Remembering that God's ways are not our ways is an
important lesson for us.

If through grace we gain a deeper awareness of God's holiness, His
loveliness, His mercifulness we begin to understand God's ways and begin
to see what He values and how different it is from the ways of the
world. Holy Scripture repeatedly emphasizes the importance of love
(charity) and obedience. The fact that Jesus is the epitome of love and
obedience is no coincidence for He came to show us the way to the
Father, what pleases Him most.

Today may we begin to formulate our actions and decisions based on a
scale where obedience and love are the measure of treasure, what is of
real value. At first glance it seems a silly and risky way to act, but
in terms of what God values, there is little else of worth. Build a new
paradigm for yourself - strive to have God's way become your way.

Happy are they who have kept the word of God (obedience) with a generous
(charitable/loving) heart and yield a harvest through perseverance. (Luke 8:15)
