Every dog is different as far as their metabolism and total calorie intake.
I have danes here rangeing in ages from 7 1/2, eating 6 cups per day, to 12
months eating 12 cups a day. I've had one male that during a growth spurt
ate 16 cups per day. This is an evarage quality dog food, not a calorie
dense food like Innova. I tailor the amount fed to the appetite and the
desired weight. If they clean up and seem to want more, and need to gain
weight, they get more. If they seem hungry all the time, but tend to get
fat easily, I smile give them a hug and go do some obedience work with
them. I use attention as a substitute for food with one that thinks they
are being starved to death, when I know better. You have to use the
individual as your guide.
