Tammy,
I fed deer meat and bones last year - the dogs had a harder time with the
bones than they do with chicken or pork - seemed a little sharper? The
meat was spectacular and all, including the cats enjoyed it.
However, this year there have been several stories covered on local news
about hunters being struck down with a weird disease (all had in common that
they were deer hunters and butchered and consumed their own kills), symptoms
are similar to mad cow disease and it is fatal.
The story ended by saying, currently Texas deer populations do not appear to
be afflicted with the disease (people who died were from up North - can't
remember where, sorry!)
SO that has made me less enthusiastic about receiving the deer left-overs
from my neighbor...
