Ruby,
freezing meat will kill or reduce bacteria and some other pathogens, but it
does NOT affect prions, the organisms responsible for the "mad cow" disease
and also the similar disease being noted in deer populations further North.
Prions are not destroyed by extremes of temperature in either direction, as
I understand it.
