Well, you know the philosophical proposition. "If a tree falls in the forest
and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?"... or the
converse... "If a bear poeps in the woods and there is no one there to smell
it, does it still stink?" ... And then there is the other one... "If a Dark
and Dirty mountain biker falls first on the ride and no other rider saw it,
does he still have to write the ride report?".... Well I can tell you that
only the bear knows if is smells and, well here is my report... ;-)

So the six of us, Gadget, Stealth, Oupa, Powergirl, Spinner, and i gather in
the parkinglot. Q.t. was there too but not in comfortable riding gear, as
she had to go telecommute into the office again. We had a few chats and then
Trailmeister Gadget led us out of the moomall and into the night..no
problem..... if only it was that simple... I decided to ride up that little
"step" in the parking lot... only to get stuck halfway... try to
uncleat.....SLAMdunk crash.... think i can get up quickly before anyone
notices... but my foot is still cleated in... eisch... hop up quick... and
with the sweeping benefits, no-one saw me.....or so I thought... looking
back to see q.t. having a lekker giggle... "Ouch are you o.k." she asks and
I try to hush her incase someone realises what happened, cos you know mos,
the first person to bail, gets the writing rights. And having such a
spectacular whipeout in the parking lot is just plain wrong...

Anyway, so like i was saying... so we cruise into the night... my ego (and
elbow, knee and hip) a little bruised.. but it was all too funny anyway.. we
cruise up and around the funky quad loop and over down Erics enchantment
which tames the wild side of Cornwall DH rush... and then popped up towards
the shabeen.... a speed zone was pumped up to the T-junction, think Stealth
took it with Oupa on his heels. Our fearless leader Gadget led us through
the enchanted blair witch forest and beyond into the distant "outback"
loop.. The air was a bit chilli in places, but actually it was a wonderful
evening.

After a sandy patch and a slight almost right turn, suddenly a dust cloud
group halt as Oupa fell his lights out... no literaly... his lights were out
so he found them again and put them together and then we discovered a flat
front wheel... a quick pump, and D&D signature spin wiggle and she sealed...
so we cruised on... must say the pace was very flowing... almost felt like a
training ride... :-)
So we cruised through batman tunnel and almost had some whipeouts in the
mudpool on the otherside... and made our way down the "false flat" and shot
python like fleet of battlestar galactica's at warp speed...

And then it was the speedzone dice... the tour-da-tar.. Gadget was out of
the saddle and made a solid early break away, gettiing good distance but he
did not realize the roadie tactics at work here... which was basically
everyone falling a wicked peleton of Stealth's slipstream (yepp these
roadies were shamelessly not planing on sharing the work)... the peleton
roared away like a comet to rope Gadget in, leaving a last group dice for
the line.... Stealths engine had been drained and Spinner spun past like a
ninja to take it.
After the heartrates calmed to a trot, we took up beegDipper and down
Cruiser to wrap up the night. Oupa's front wheel exhaled a mere 200m from
the end so he transitioned into trail running duathlon mode to the end.

Thanks Gadget for leading us on a lekker ride.. yeah as you said, it was
more mild to mild, but variation is the spice of the life.. so it was
awesome!!!

Stats went something like
Smileage 38km
Total time 2:20
Punctures 1
crashes 2
temp - fresh

So being back at 9:30 we went for a beer, tried spur, braza, ciao baby, (no
we are MTBr's and did not even consider fashion tv) ...even karoo said no we
are sorry, can't serve you 2 beers and 2 hot chocolates... man these moo
mall resturants are getting a little mooooshy.. but luckily, Bugatti's
welcomed us in, and we could enjoy a few drinks and good conversation.

Next time, we'll just go straight to Bugattis...

Thanks folks, and as always, it was an honour to ride with you's
