Great report Eric! I'm just worried that you made it sound so good that now
everyone will want to join in and we'll have MORE than 24 rider next time ;-)

Subject: [DarknDirty] About last night....

So last night saw the return of the Gadget, after his big fall. He was a
little scared... but after arriving at the MooMall and seeing 24 other keen
intro riders his fears quickly set aside.

Okay enough of the third person stuff.

I have been looking forward to this ride for quite some time. I have luckily
not had any major injuries left, but still did not have the confidence to
get back on the bike until at least 2 weeks before. Anxiously waiting for
the next intro route, the time has finally come. Last night's intro route
was awesome. It's such a great route with just the right balance of fun,
skill, easy riding and technical climbs. All mixed together to not scare
newbies away - but still keeping it fun for the regulars.

WOW what a crowd at the MooMall, 24 riders including 8 ladies, 6 first
timers and a bunch of 'old' faces. With Clinton in the lead I knew we were
in for good night out where safety, social and fun are the 3 biggest focus
points.

The route started going up CRUISER single track, from there to EXTACY park.
It been a long time since I have seen that many lights in the park - it
looked awesome as everyone played there going round and round. Some of the
new ladies even when down the drop-off, eish! on their first ride in the
dark! They are definitely made of the right material :-)

From there we went to the WASH-A-GO and on to the PYTHON. Yeah baby the
PYTHON with full moon! There's just no better ghost ride than that!

After the fun on PYTHON we went up QUAD-BUSTA where the speedsters had ample
opportunity to get rid of all their build-up energy.

On the top we celebrated the LEGEND's birthday with some lekke cupcakes.

The rest was smooth sailing along the jeeptracks to SHABEEN-QUEEN-DOWN-HILL
and back at the MooMall we still found the SPUR open and willing to serve
some beers and hot chocolates.

Distance: 26km
Time: 3,5h (yeah yeah it was a big crowd on an intro night)
Flats: 1,5 (the half was fixed by just pumping)
Whipe-outs: 2 (that I have witnessed)

Eric.

PS: I'll only be riding again in a months time after da honeymoon!!!! we
were joking last night that there are still some things better than night
rides, but not much! :-)
