18:40 at Moo Mall: one other brave (mad?) soul already there, and then Oupa
Gert arrives, looking seriously intent on a ride. A fourth regular arrives,
and then Hards and QT pitch with one mission in mind - to test our resolve
by proposing we choose either Primi or Bugatti's for a DnD meal, motivated
by the requirement (excuse) we have to carbo-load for the rough weekend
ahead. Ok, so as we reckon that maybe 4 isn't safe and that we might have
to suffer the carbo-loading pitch, then Mark arrives...and that makes five.
The resolve was definitely mixed in the bunch, but being 5 regular die-hards
we get going just after 19:00 before someone remembers that the hot choc at
Primi's is on special or something.

For safety reasons we decide to do a district road out-and-back loop next to
the R21, oupa Gert the trailmeister and yours truly pushing the 29-inch
broom. A good ride it was, safe (only encounter on the road was with a
piloce van), and although oupa gert seemed to think the whole ride was one
long speed zone everyone was chatty (well, nothing like when there's ladies
present, but plenty of nods and grunts to go around), and since we expected
-40 temps, we generally kept from freezing. No wild trail-riding meant no
ride report "volunteer" emerged, hence the task falling on the lazy sweeper.

Ride Stats:

Smileage: 36km

Time: 2:30

Splats: none

Speedzones: 1 - 36km long, taker: Junior (a.k.a. Oupa Gert)

Non-grunt chat topics:

- Scott Spark (yes, still J )

- Lights (yes, still)

- Bafana Bafana (yes, we are still talking about that)

- How fast Junior is, especially when let loose at the front of the
pack

In all, a good ride, especially for testing cold-weather kit like Anatomic's
"Toasty Toes", my imported from UK bike jacket, how it feels to cycle with 2
layers on feet, 2 layers on hands, 2 layers on head, 2 layers on legs, 4
layers on bod.

Thanks to all you guys who braved the cold, it was good to DnD again.

See you at the Fast n Furious on Saterday!
