For NVIDIA driver I can't remember a time where it failed me. The dkms
module works just fine, is updated regularly and follows the
Debian/unsable kernel. I'm today using 4.9.13. AMDGPU-PRO is supported
only for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with kernel 4.4 and this won't move for one
more full year!

Just for getting the feel of it I run Xubuntu 16.04 LTS in virtualbox, with an eye on installing it on a real machine. There was a regular update on my virtual Xbuntu, kernel 4.4 to kernel 4.8. So they are updating it.

The following relates to Ubuntu, but if you have an answer;-)
Quesions would be:
Does the ampgpu-pro work with this kernel on a "real" Xubuntu machine. I wouldn't bother if openCL were not available there.

I'm not that familiar with the Ubuntu family. Xubuntu offers darktable 2.0.3. Is there a "painless" way for upgrading to a newer darktable?
