[ nfs discussion ]

Hi
Thanks for your input. Yes, my NAS is slow, it's a little bit outdated,
but it does not "lock".
I checked the load on the NAS (was "ok"), I could access the files from
another window, etc.

I have seen many nfs problems in my life (yes, I'm old ;-) E. g. we ran
/usr clients on AIX 3.2 in the 90ies, when disk space was so precious
that workstations mounted their /usr from a "server". Now that was fun
-- or not.

So I don't think it's just a plain nfs problem.

But it could be some timing thing/race condition which usually does not
occur, since my NAS is a little slow. And dt sometimes even crashes, not
just hangs, so it's certainly not only an nfs problem.

Anyway, I'll have to check if the issue also occurs when files are
local, and I'll try running under the debugger.

Thanks so far for all your help, and of course thanks for dt in general!

Best regards,
        Michael
