probably (read as I am not sure), but they will probably contain
differences to 2.6+ that may cause problems with 2.6+.  safe bet, if you
are going to test 3.+ for some period, either backup 2.6+ xmp files and
restore if you revert, or only use 3.+ on fresh images (no xmp files) and
if you revert, remove the xmp files.

fwiw: I run master one openSUSE TW and have not encountered a problem in
quite some years and the problems were correctable.
